Welcome to the UdG Digital Repository

About DUGiMedia
DUGiMedia is the audio and video repository of the University de Girona (UdG). As such, it preserves, disseminates and promotes the multimedia production of the service that records lectures, conferences and seminars organised at the University. It raises the UdG’s profile and incorporates tools for indexing and describing content, enhancing the value of the video and audio recordings and facilitating open and easy access to them from many other Internet sites (interoperability).
The Library Service is responsible for DUGiMedia, which uses open source software (DSpace, Postgres, SOLR, etc.), and is supported by an open source operating system (Linux).
The repository’s functions are:
  • to guarantee interoperability, ensuring that the documents in the repository can be located through other repositories and search engines that use the same industry standards, and through Google and other Internet search engines;
  • to increase the visibility and impact of the academic production of the UdG, applying search engine optimisation techniques (SEO) to promote items on the network and offer maximum visibility;
  • to index and make contents retrievable;
  • to compile a wide variety of documents in terms of media, subject matter and document type;
  • to allow mainstream access and use of the materials by other professors and students at the UdG and in the rest of the world;
  • to comply with EC and national open access guidelines and regulations;
  • to provide authority control, ensuring there are no duplicates of entry; and
  • to guarantee the UdG’s brand of quality.
Objectives
The objectives of the repository are:
  • to increase the visibility of and access to the UdG’s scientific and academic production;
  • to add value to audio and video documents with indexing and standard bibliographic citation;
  • to protect the subsequent use of the multimedia documents and intellectual property rights through Creative Commons licences;
  • to ensure the preservation of materials in the repository and that each digital object has a permanent URL; and
  • to act as an archive of the UdG’s research and academic output and to facilitate subsequent uses (sharing and recycling material, avoiding duplication, etc.)
Who can make deposits? What can they deposit? In which formats?
The UdG Library staff can deposit the multimedia material. If the Library’s recording service has not recorded the material, contact biblioteca.projectes@udg.edu and we will send you the instructions on how to publish the material in the DUGiMedia repository.
The following materials can be deposited in DUGiMedia:
  • materials related to research: lectures, conferences, seminars, etc.
  • teaching materials and objects: innovation activities, postgraduate and summer courses and, etc.
  • historical archives
  • institutional material: institutional events in faculties and schools, interuniversity activities, institutional events in different services
  • student work: thesis defences, students presentation, role playing, etc.
  • materials from the sectoral campuses, research centres and cultural entities
DUGiMedia accepts the mp3 audio and mp4 video formats.
Access to the contents
Access to DUGiMedia is free and the records are public and open to everyone. However, in specific cases, access to some digital objects may be restricted. In these cases, the Library Service must authorise users to have access.
Preservation of the content
To ensure the preservation of the deposited documents, periodically:
  • the repository is reviewed for completeness;
  • backup copies are made; and
  • access is guaranteed by managing any necessary formatting changes.
