Kenneth Ehrenberg, from the University of Surrey, presents a seminar on the widespread confusion between the concepts of legal validity and legal legitimacy, and on the relationship between them. Whereas legal validity is the social fact whether a legal norm has the backing of the legal system, legal legitimacy concerns whether a particular element of that system deserves the status it holds as legally valid
